Tell us a little bit about the organisation, please;
It is a 22 year old trust working primarily in the field of disability. The founder’s came together for this cause as a result of their love for cricket especially blind cricket as they are visually impaired. I contribute to the funding partnerships and development strategies of the organization abroad along with driving the growth of blind cricket across the world as a CEO of World Blind Cricket.
Why did you choose this great cause?
I have been working in the development field for the past 20 years and have ventured in areas like media and social development. I wanted to use my skills to help people who deserve to be helped and uplifted and right now I am doing just that.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
My work and the opportunities that I get to meet with people and creating new arena to play in has been the biggest motivating factor.
Why do you think social entrepreneurship is also important?
It brings innovative solutions to social problems using human resources, technology etc. I always wanted do something for others, particularly those who need a platform to show their talent and there was not better way than World Blind Cricket Ltd to add some value to the lives of people.
What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
Challenges and obstacles are part of the journey. For us, it would be –
Acceptance : to be trusted and relied upon to do good for the visually impaired by the community itself.
What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person
Networking and learning & sharing along the way.
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
I stay calm and take a deep breath. Loosing your cool is not the answer.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Hard work, smart work and networking.
